About 103.9 FM
FM 103.9 is a locally and regionally based membership controlled not-for-profit community broadcasting station.
Originally covering just Seymour, the radio station has been on the air for close to ten years. Over this time, the station has seen many people come and go, and has developed from merely a few interested people to now being a well established and fully equipped radio station for the whole region.
A recent upgrade in the transmission facilities allows for region wide coverage, and as such we now fully welcome and encourage people from throughout the region to partivipate in the station. At this time, our major towns are Broadford, Seymour, Nagambie and Avenel.
Coverage is provided to Seymour, Broadford, Nagambie, Avenel, Puckapunyal and Tallarook, and the surrounding localities.
FM 103.9 broadcasts from its new studios at Lesley Street (within the Kings Park complex).
Presently the station operates on an annually renewed Temporary Community Broadcasting Licence, and we expect to be granted a permanent high powerlicence within the next 24 months.
The radio station presents a variety of programs, and all participants within Seymour FM are volunteers. Additionally, the station is operated in accordance with the Community Broadcasting Code of Practice
NO MATTER WHERE YOU LIVE
103.9 is your local station throughout the region, and offers teople throughout the same equal opportunity to present programs and to be a part of the 103.9 family.
New programs are soon to commence focussing on community events and activities in each of the towns within the coverage area.
FUNDRAISING & COMMUNITY SUPPORT
Community based Fundraising is essential for the ongoing operation of the radio station. Contrary to the opinion of some, Seymour FM does not receive annual subsidies, and is not paid for by government or the local council. The fact is that the radio station is reliant on local support from its members (which is open to anyone to join!), local business advertising / sponsorship and fundraising activities.
STUDIOS AND TRANSMITTER SITE
Our studios are now in the Kings Park Complex, this follows various short to medium tenure at various commercial premises within Seymour. Having moved to the Kings Park facilities, the radio station has joined with other key user groups, all of whom are also a key part to the local and regional community.
VOLUNTEERS
The radio station is totally volunteer operated - no-one is paid to be on air or behind the scenes at 103.9. We provide training opportunities for new presenters, to learn and develop the skills needed to sound their best on the radio station.
COMMITTEE OF MANAGEMENT
The Committee is elected annually by the members at the Annual General Meeting. Like any organisation, the Committee represents the Members, to present the best outcomes for both the radio station and the community which it is part of.
